Online Banking Frequently Asked Questions

Accessing Your Account

Q. What is my Online Banking ID?

A. If you’re logging in to Online Banking for the first time, remember to enter ORNL before your account number. So if you’re account number is 987654, you’d enter ORNL987654. After your first login you can easily change your Online Banking ID by clicking the Options button at the top of the screen.

Q. Why can I sign on at home but not at work

A. Some employers block access to systems that require usernames and passwords. Ask your IT department if that is the case for ornlfcu.com and Online Banking.

Q. Why am I not able to see my Credit Card, Mortgage, or eStatement in Online Banking?

A. When you select the “Credit Card, " “Mortgage” or “eStatement” option, the statement will open in new browser window. If you have your Pop-up Blocker on, it will prevent the statement from appearing on your screen.

To correct this issue, simply turn off your Pop-up Blocker, or add Online Banking to your Pop-up Blocker exceptions.

Using Online Banking - The Bill Pay Tab

Q. Why did my eBills not carry over?

A. When setting up an eBill, you provide the bill pay provider with your username and password to access the online information. When moving to a new provider, it’s not considered best practice to pass that information along so eBills do indeed have to be set back up. However, the process is quick and easy and once it’s set up, it’s set up!

Online Banking Security

Q. Is Online Banking secure?

ORNL Federal Credit Union has ensured that Online Banking is a safe, secure place for you to complete all of your banking needs. Multiple levels of security are in place to protect your private and sensitive information.

Online Banking has an industry standard, 128-bit encryption for your protection. Encryption is a process that encrypts, or changes data into an unreadable form. This unreadable data is exchanged back and forth between your computer and the Online Banking server. Once this unreadable data has reached its destination, it is returned to its original form by using a key that is known by both your computer and the Online Banking server.

ORNL Federal Credit Union ensures that your information is protected by using multi-factor authentication. Your password and security questions, plus firewalls and watermarks on each screen ensure that you are on the Online Banking secure site. In addition, after 10 minutes of inactivity, Online Banking will “time out” or log you out and terminate the session. You will then need to log back in to access Online Banking.

Your private and sensitive information is safe and secure with ORNL Federal Credit Union Online Banking.
